The Warlock likes to occasionally remind Fighting Fantasy fans young and old of the all the related books and collectables you can find out there in the big wide world. His alter ego has an established good old-fashioned website that is www.fightingfantasycollector.co.uk full of goodies to make even the hardiest treasure hunter envious. Although not updated in while, it is timeless and is still considered the place to go as a key reference. So, if you have ever wondered what all the different book covers look like, or curious as to what else Fighting Fantasy produced then look no further.
To compliment this, The Warlock, as the self-confessed curator of all such things also maintains a Collector’s Price Guide he publishes annually to help you in your quest of collecting and cataloguing all your Fighting Fantasy finds. You can also use it to value your collection. If you should have something in your collection that the Warlock hasn’t yet discovered please contact him at email@example.com with the details.

I for one am patiently waiting to receive two Kickstarter projects that funded last year. In fact YOU ARE THE HERO funded just over a year ago. Jonathan Green has eluded to the fact it has grown from an original word count of 30,000 to over 90,000 words and counting. It is currently with Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone for editing and fingers crossed will be with us soon (!). I am also reliably informed that BEYOND THE PIT is immanent and is only a week or so away from publication.

Inkle are beginning to gear up for the release of Sorcery! 2, which is just coming out of alpha this week and going into beta testing. It's taken them a little longer than they'd hoped, because they've added quite a few new features. They're expecting to release the new game at the very end of October, but before that, they're doing a major update of the Shamutanti Hills, with a totally revised spellcasting system that's much easier to use - and rendered in glorious 3D. (Fans wanting the original challenge should just leave the settlement without a spellbook.) They're also going back and adding the option to play as a female avatar, and I've attached a picture of her to the the right.

Whilst we wait for issue twelve of the Fighting Fantazine I think you'll agree we are all waiting patiently for the Inkle version of Sorcery! - Kháre: Cityport of Traps to arrive on our digital devices sometime soon. Equally, I am sure you are also eager to see a new release from Tin Man Games. I had reported earlier that Appointment with F.E.A.R will be re-imagined to compete with the Inkle offering but not it seems until next year now. However, to keep things flowing they are still planning to release Island of the Lizard King and Starship Traveller in the more traditional style whilst you wait. It is also reported that Starship Traveller will contain all new artwork.

Fighting Fantazine #11 in print
When I say in print, I really mean in print. Alexander Ballingall, Editor of the Fantazine has pulled it out of the bag this time. He rounded up some keen troops who were willing to club in and get issue #11 printed and that's just what he did. It has a glossy cover, weighs in at just over 100 pages and even has its own ISBN number!
I believe a limited number were commissioned and the cost for a one-off is justifiable but if it is to be repeated for a future edition then the cost may need to be reviewed (NZD $16.99) but it will need more supporters.
This fanzine, now covers much wider content than Fighting Fantasy, certainly is a worthy contender for wider circulation. If viable I could see this in a newsagent near you? News on issue 12 out soon. Find out more.

Tin Man Games have announced some big news about the future of Fighting Fantasy digital titles.
Frequent readers will know that Tin Man secured the rights to and released Blood of the Zombies, House of Hell, followed by the recently released Forest of Doom. Appointment with F.E.A.R will be next (due in October), with an interesting twist that unlike the original it will not require dice.
In order to respond to the competition (Inkle) and make the best use of technology available, Tin Man have great plans for classic titles such as The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, Citadel of Chaos, Deathtrap Dungeon, City of Thieves and Creature of Havoc.
However, in the meantime whilst these changes take place two new titles have been announced, Starship Traveller and Island of the Lizard King. Where Forest of Doom was kept true to the original, these two will follow suit later this year after Appointment with F.E.A.R.

The Warlock is still on the hunt for Fighting Fantasy items and has an ambition to become the owner of the ultimate archive of Fighting Fantasy collectables. Finds are few and far between these days, except for finding better copies of the books. However, despite already having a desirable collection he finds that someone has something he does not. Just when he thought that the list was complete, along comes the poster to the left.
The Warlock kept his eye off the ball and this beauty went unnoticed on ebay until it was brought to his attention. It changed hands for £52 and he hopes the new owner is very proud. The original owner found it at a market recently! Ian Livingstone doesn't even remember it.
The Warlock will be adding it to the list, hoping one day to own one. To catch up with a checklist and price guide for all Fighting Fantasy related books and collectables why not check out the 2013 version of the guide right now to see how much you have and yet to find, catalogue your collection or even value it.

It’s time to return to Ian Livingstone’s Forest of Doom!
Tin Man Games’ third Fighting Fantasy digital gamebook app, The Forest of Doom, arrives on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad today, following a recent Android release on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore for Android.
Smart phone and tablet users can now take part in one of the classic gamebook experiences that introduced a whole generation to fantasy role-playing games back in 1983! Proudly displaying an animated version of Iain McCaig’s iconic cover of the Shape Changer, the app allows readers to risk the unknown perils of Darkwood Forest with a desperate quest against time to find the missing pieces of the legendary Hammer of Stonebridge.
Ian Livingstone, co-creator of the Fighting Fantasy series and author of The Forest of Doom, said: “For those people coming back to Darkwood Forest after a 30 year absence, I hope the experience is as enjoyable as it was the first time around. The forest has certainly been brought to life in this brilliantly executed digital version by Tin Man Games.”
Fans will also be able to read Ian’s historical notes on the thinking behind the concept of The Forest of Doom and the naming of its principal character, the grand wizard Yaztromo. He continues: “For those of you entering Darkwood Forest for the first time – good luck! Might I suggest you are nice to Yaztromo. He’s my friend.”
Tin Man Games has taken the classic Fighting Fantasy solo adventure and transformed it into an interactive digital experience, using their critically acclaimed gamebook engine. With animated page-turning, dynamic links, an automated adventure sheet to show changing stats and display magical treasures, the reader can also roll physics-based 3D dice to bravely battle the creatures found within Darkwood Forest.
The Forest of Doom app makes good use of the latest smart phone and tablet hardware, using the increased screen space of tablets to read horizontally or vertically. A retro mode has been included for nostalgic Fighting Fantasy fans, which displays Malcolm Barter’s classic black and white illustrations, while those readers who want full colour can see those same images beautifully rendered by John-Paul Bove, notable colourist in recent Transformers comics.
Darkwood Forest is a tricky place to find your way around, so a new game engine feature is the addition of a map that auto-updates as you travel from location to location. Neil Rennison, creative director for Tin Man Games, said: “We listened to the fans who wanted more mapping within the Fighting Fantasy apps and we felt that it was a perfect addition to The Forest of Doom. Looking to the future, we plan to make more of this feature for upcoming FF titles.”
Fighting Fantasy: The Forest of Doom is now available to download from the iOS App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore for Android. It costs $5.99 USD/£3.99/ 5,49 €.

Tin Man Games have worked their magic once again by releasing Forest of Doom. This is the third installment following the success of Blood of the Zombies and House of Hell. Forest of Doom has been unusually been released on Android first instead of iOS which is due out soon, but no firm date has yet been given. The amount of times Fighting Fantasy gets contacted about the release on Android, it is the iOS fans who are left waiting this time, including the Warlock himself! One of my favourite books by Ian Livingstone and can't wait to catch up with Yaztromo once more.

How are you all getting on with the new Sorcery! app? According to fans on Twitter, most that have played it say they can't wait for the next installment and the team at Inkle are working hard to make that happen. This is a favourite quote supplied by Jon Ingold, Creative Director at Inkle,
"Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time writing a review when I should really just be pointing at a game and demanding that people play it. This is one of those times. Steve Jackson's Sorcery! is an absolutely marvelous fantasy storybook adventure. Lushly illustrated and expertly told, it should not be missed by anyone even remotely interested in the genre."
The gameplay and graphics are very different from the Tin Man Games adaptations of other Fighting Fantasy books, so if you haven't seen what all the hype is all about, check out this Youtube video

Remember the Hill Giant and the Sightmaster Sergeant of Analand? The last time I posted anything substantial regarding the forthcoming Steve Jackson Sorcery! app by Inkle was back in September last year. Jon Ingold, the Creative Director at Inklehas provided us with these exclusive new images for The Shamutanti Hills app by illustrator Eddie Sharam (the moving gif images) to compliment the original artwork by John Blanche as a teaser of what is to come in April.
Will this app beat Forest of Doom by Tin Man Games to our tablets and phones or will you get this first instead? Either way both are worth the wait and I am sure new and old fans alike will enjoy both. In the meantime enjoy House of Hell.

Number 10 in the original series of Fighting Fantasy books, House of Hell is a classic and a favourite for many but many a time has the book met criticism as well for its darker side. Equally, it stands out as one of the few in the series in the horror genre and not set in the original setting of Allansia. Play it as it was intended and stay true to the original system or use the many features within the app to enhance your experience. Once again Tin Man Games have worked their magic, following the success of the new release that is Blood of the Zombies and bought this original classic back to life in the different formats a new generation can enjoy alike, Download now.
“Taking refuge in the infamous House of Hell has to be the worst mistake of your life! Happy New Year to new and returning Fighting Fantasy fans. Here is to another fantastic year of Gamebooks.
No new paperbook releases are planned at this time, however expect to see plenty of the Gamebooks released into electronic formats by Tin Man Games (see previous posts) and don't forget the Sorcery! series being released by Inkle as well. I think the best ever news ever is that whilst I said no new books are coming out, we do still have YOU ARE THE HERO to look forward too by Jonathan Green at the end of this year. As I type it has less than 5 hours to go and will end at 3pm GMT (10am EST) today, Sunday 6th January 2013. The book has funded at £15,000 but it is now past £19,000 and the ever ambitious Jon has set a late stretch target of £23,000 to turn the book into a hardback release. This is certainly something I would like to see happen - Good Luck Jon. (Follow his blog to find out the latest). Tin Man have also contributed, so if you add £10 to your pledge you can get the first 7 Gamebook Adventures as well!
Just a heads up as well, the magazine SCIFI NOW #75 (out now) has another full page on Fighting Fantasy.

The project, to bring us a 'Coffee Table' book called YOU ARE THE HERO - A History of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, has 12 days to go and has nearly reached £10,000 of the £15,000 goal. I have funded, have you? I for one certainly want to see this happen, so go on and make myself and many more happy, buy yourself a gift now.
Whilst you are sitting around this holiday watching the video, you should also read the interview GMS Magazine has conducted with Jonathan Green about this project and his career. On top of all this goodness is the announcement made by Tin Man Games, 'On the Twelth Day of Christmas, The Warlock gave to me..... The Warlock of Firetop Mountain'. Tin people will be very busy releasing this and 6 other Fighting Fantasy titles in 2013, not to mention House of Hell as well is just around the corner.

Jonathan Green has launched his new project on Kickstarter. The name of his project is YOU ARE THE HERO - A History of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks. Only 3 days in and Jonathan has already secured over £4,000 of his £15,000 target.
Some of you will already know that he is a huge fan of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks (the series that began with Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone's The Warlock of Firetop Mountain in 1982) and has written seven titles in the series to date. 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the publication of The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, and he wanted to mark the occasion by writing the definitive history of Fighting Fantasy.
He has already interviewed Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone (as well as various authors, artists, editors and some well known fans of the series) and has some cool rewards lined up for backers.
Please check out the Kickstarter page and pledge your support if you can (even £1 could make all the difference between the project being funded or not) and pass it on to your friends.

A very successful day for Fighting Fantasy was had at Dragonmeet 2012 yesterday at Kensington Town Hall in London. Over 90 books were sold on the day, 36 of which were Blood of the Zombies. My son, Charlie, can been in the first picture just after we set-up and the next picture is Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson in full signing mode, with a long line of fans waiting to see them in the background. I am the bald one stood up behind them. My Warlock t-shirt I ordered for the event never did arrive.
Fighting Fantasy author Jonathan Green came to see us, as did artist Tony Hough. Thanks to Neil Rennison of Tin Man Games who attended as well and lent me his Blood of the Zombies banner and iPad stand that was very popular with passers by. Lots of postcards (again donated by Tin Man) and posters were given away as collector's items. We also had the pleasure of Gamebook blogger, Stuart Lloydpop by for a chat.
Sadly, the Fighting Fantasy documentary Kickstarter project 'Turn to 400' did not get funded despite all the efforts of Sean Riley and those who supported it. Just over £15,000 of the original target of £40,000 was funded and we are awaiting news as to what the next move is regarding this. Meanwhile at Dragonmeet it was announced that Jonathan Green will be starting his own Kickstarter project. He is to launch a campaign to fund a book he is writing called 'The History of Fighting Fantasy'. This is an exciting project and I am sure we are all looking forward to supporting this and seeing the fruits of his labour sometime next year.

Bit of a mixed bag to report on today. Tin Man Games can be congratulated on obtaining the Gold Award from Pocket Gamer with a 9 out of 10 rating and reaching no.1 in the iPad RPG chart with the new Blood of Zombies App. A free iOS app has been released by Mark Stoneham called the Gamebook Companion that acts as a virtual adventure sheet, ideal when playing your Fighting Fantasy books or similar. Don't despair if you don't have any dice or a pencil, or no longer fret about ruining your book by writing in it as this tool enables you store all your stats and more in one place.
Most exciting news of all is that MmBroadcast, the company responsible for bringing us the Fighting Fantasy documentary taster will shortly be releasing a UK Kickstarter project to fund the documentary. They have created a Facebook page - Turn to 400 in the build up to the 30-day project which starts on Halloween. A review of Blood of the Zombies by fan Ed Reilly,
“A new Fighting Fantasy adventure by Ian Livingstone is always a cause for celebration and this one is no exception. In many ways, Blood of the Zombies is Ian's own version of House of Hell in that you must navigate your way through a castle full of adversaries (in this case, zombies).
At times, I found myself missing the sheer variety of monster encounters in the standard Fighting Fantasy books. However I did appreciate Ian's inclusion of a pretty female companion who helps you. (I'm sure the male readership will agree with me!) I couldn’t understand why Gingrich Yurr would turn himself into a zombie. There are several coded references to Fighting Fantasy history and Ian makes his customary cameo in the art. The cover and interior art are striking, a particular favourite being the chainsaw zombie (which I sincerely hope wasn’t Amy!)
The return of the green spine is the icing on the cake. So, all in all. a most enjoyable adventure. Let us hope that both Ian and Steve return for one last great adventure in Allansia to enrich the Fighting Fantasy mythos.”

A few tantalising details about the new version of Steve Jackson's Sorcery! have surfaced.
The developers at inkle say: "We've almost finished our first pass at adapting Book One: The Shamutanti Hills. (Just the final descent into the caves of the dread MANTICORE still to do.) The new version contains every word of the original, alongside about three times as many new words to go with!"
Have they cut anything? "Absolutely not. We're going deeper; making things more detailed."
So dedicated players of the original book will be at an advantage? "Perhaps. But we've talked about adding a couple of traps just for people who can remember the originals. Will we do that? Well. That would be telling, wouldn't it?"

How is everyone getting on with Blood of the Zombies? Too hard? Well today might be your lucky day as Ian has announced on Twitter that the first print run of the book has sold out already and the first re-print is already in circulation. Those of you playing what is now the collector's edition can apply the new stat if you play the game again. Ian also confirmed your stamina can also go over its initial level. Yesterday I went to London to visit the Queen, nope wait, see the Olympics, nope Ian Livingstone nonetheless for the book signing launch event of Blood of the Zombies at the Forbidden Planet megastore. I felt he was more important and that took priority over all that the city offered.
I went up with Neil Rennison of Tin Man Games, who gave me a sneak preview of the new app on his iPad and it is developing nicely, you should all be very excited and will not be disappointed, no pressure Neil. He is the tall one in the picture on the bottom left, incidentally stood right next to him is none other than Fighting Fantasy artist - Tony Hough (and Daughter).
In the centre is the first book signed by Ian. Every book he signed he gave it a number, I managed to secure Zombie No.50! In the short hour Ian had to meet the fans he managed to meet 74, not to mention all the extra books they brought with them for him to sign as well. Most of the Icon Books entourage were there too. Finally, in the bottom right-hand picture is uber fan - Stuart Lloyd (Lloyd of Gamebooks) enjoying his day out. The book is tough, can you slay them all?

Tin Man Games secures the iOS and Android Fighting Fantasy Licence
This much awaited news has been hard to keep quiet and has taken all my resolve to do so. Tin Man Games, who are already responsible for 9 digital Gamebook Adventures, including the forthcoming Judge Dredd app, are proud to announce that they have secured the licence to bring Fighting Fantasy to IOS and Android, yes you heard it right, Android as well. Tin Man Games will bring out Blood of the Zombies first to coincide with the launch of the book for the 30th Anniversary in August this year. This will followed up by House of Hell and I am sure they will bring us many more titles. Neil Rennison, the Creative Director of Tin Man Games will be joining Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson this weekend at the UK Games Expo 2012 to make this announcement.
The Zombies are coming.....in August 2012!
Ian Livingstone has written a new Fighting Fantasy gamebook in which YOU decided the title of the book!
As we announced in January, Fighting Fantasy is going to be thirty years old this year and Ian Livingstone has written a new gamebook to celebrate this historic event.
In this adventure YOU are kidnapped and sold to a deranged megalomaniac who wants to build an army of undead to exact terrible revenge on those once mocked him. He hates everybody except for his scientists and servants. The scientists were instructed to develop a mutated gene in human blood which would be injected into innocent victims, turning them into Zombies. The madman's henchmen kidnapped hundreds of people who were locked up to await their fate. YOU are about to be injected with Zombie blood. The Zombie army is almost complete, ready to be unleashed upon the world in a frenzy of killing and wanton destruction. YOU have to avoid being transformed into a Zombie. YOU have to kill all the Zombies, dispose of the madman and escape from the castle. To do this you will need a lot of firepower to take down the hordes of Zombies. But don't kill everybody as there is one person who needs to be rescued...
The book was nearly written but Ian couldn’t decide between two titles he had thought up for it. So he decided to use the wisdom of the crowd and hold a vote on the Fighting Fantasy website. Fans were asked to vote for either Blood of the Zombies or Escape from Zombie Castle.
The response from the fans was fantastic, thank you, with nearly 1,000 votes cast in two days. We can now reveal that Ian’s new book will be called:
Blood of the Zombies
Wizard Books will be publishing a special edition of the book in August, and Ian is hoping to have iOS, Android and perhaps a Kindle version out at the same time too. We will be announcing more news in the coming months ahead of publication.

Welcome to the month of 'Winds' in the Titan calender. I think it should be more like 'Rains' in this modern age.
A great time was had at the Gadget Show Live, Something Unreal event in April that saw four Train2Game indie developer teams compete for a licence to release a Fighting Fantasy title on iOS. The lucky winner was Commando Kiwi who will now go onto develop and release The Warlock of Firetop Mountain: Lost Chapters. Lots of other new events are coming up that Ian and Steve will be attending over the coming months to launch the new gamebook, Blood of the Zombies.
The Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG The Crown of Kings (Sorcery!) Campaign as adpated by Graham Bottley is now avaliable from Arion Games via the Cubicle 7 store. Big Blue Bubble have put the five Fighting Fantasy iOS titles on sale due to the licence running out and are not being renewed. No news on any replacements as yet. Worldweaver have announced that House of Hell is the latest title to be released on the Kindle.
The infamous Fighting Fantasy artist Russ Nicholson, responsible for the internal art of the original The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, is selling his artwork on-line. Russ is also responsible for the poster art promoting the movie, DEATH, in which Ian Livingstone has a debut cameo role as a Postman.
Finally, I bring you the trailer for the forthcoming documentary by MmBroadast celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Fighting Fantasy.

Latest News - January 2012 - 304 A.C. Year of the Fox
Happy new year and welcome to the January 2012 news update on the world's greatest Fighting Fantasy website. It is the month of Freezing in Allansia and the start of a very busy year for Fighting Fantasy since it is our 30th Anniversary. The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was published 30 years ago on 27th August 1982 (see image for original cover).
It is the intention that on the 27th August 2012, Ian Livingstone will release his new gamebook but you are going to have to wait a little longer to find out what the theme is and the title. Keep visiting the site for teasers.
We are all looking forward to more Advanced Fighting Fantasy RPG releases from Arion Games following in the footsteps of the last three. Expect to see the Sorcery! title Crown of Kings adapted first and then followed by Out of the Pit II, Blacksand, Dungeoneer and Allansia as well.
A lot of you are wondering what has happened to the House of Hell movie? Well, negotiations are still taking place to make it happen and hopefully I will have some news for you on that soon.
At the end of last year Worldweaver released City of Thieves on the Kindle (US only, UK to be confirmed) and they have announced House of Hell as the next title followed by Creature of Havoc.
You have also been asking about the next release on iPhone, however no plans are in place at the moment for anymore to be released. The good news is that a few interested parties are working with us on bringing the books to Android (fingers crossed). No news as to whether or not the books will be released on the Nook platform though.
Also to look forward too is the Laughing Jackal release of Forest of Doom in the PSN mini format.
Traffic to the website has risen, Facebook likes are up and we have gained a hundred or so more Twitter followers, so I must be doing something right! I re-opened the registration part of the site and gained a few hundred more followers only for it to be abused again so I have shut it down until I work that through. I will endeavour to mass mail every legitimate member to keep in-touch.
I have lots of amendments to do on the site this year. I will be selling signed books through the site and running more competitions. I will also be integrating more of the original material into the site as well. Look out for issue 8 of the Fighting Fantazine at the end of this month where I will be interviewed at length.
Please continue to send in your artwork, letters, amateur adventures, Maps and stories to email@example.com and if you haven't already, read about the trip to Dragonmeet last year and other archived news from 2011.

Due to a technical fault I have been unable to send a festive e-mail to all registered users. It appears once again that instead of genuine e-mail addresses we have been blessed with time wasters and one has corrupted our account.

Alfred Drake has once again worked his magic by producing two new maps for the site - Creature of Havoc and Curse of the Mummy (spoiler alert). I have managed to track down the interview with Ian Livingstone at Dragonmeet 2011 as my version was rubbish. Thanks to the interviewer, James Wallis, for putting me in touch with www.yog-sothoth.com whom has kindly provided me with this link to the whole interview. Ian talks about his career right from the start with Steve Jackson. It is an hour long and Fighting Fantasy has a slot about 19 minutes in.

The Warlock visits Dragonmeet
I had the pleasure of starting my day with Ian Livingstone on Saturday to collect more signed books before heading off to Dragonmeet together. On arrival we parted ways and met again at his interview with James Wallis at 11am as scheduled. The room was full and the hour passed very quickly. Ian covered his career from the very start when he and Steve Jackson set up Games Workshop, right up to his involvement in the electronic games industry today. He spent at least 15 minutes discussing Fighting Fantasy and in response to a question I had pre-prepared, he excited the audience by confirming the plans to launch a new book next year for the 30th Anniversary. He still wouldn't release the title, nor theme but did add that the release date will be August to coincide with the exact date The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was released in 1982. Afterwards he sat at the Arion Games stand with Graham Bottley, where he proceeded to autograph books for adoring fans. Some had brought their own, others bought one of the new titles Graham had for sale that day.
Fighting Fantasy at Dragonmeet
From L to R: Graham Bottley, Jamie Fry, Ian Livingstone and Jonathan Green
Around Lunchtime, after Ian had left, I managed to grab a good chat with Graham and found out more about the plans for the Advanced Fighting Fantasy re-releases. He confirmed firstly that the Sorcery! title Crown of Kings RPG will be released in either December 2011 or in January 2012. Most importantly he announced that next year we will see the release of Blacksand!, Dungeoneer and Allansia, even Out of the Pit II. Jonathan Green was also at Dragonmeet. I sat in on his panel interview where Fighting Fantasy got a mention a few times and had chats with him throughout the day. Jonathan was the guest of Tin Man Games, promoting his new Gamebook Adventures title Temple of the Spider God for iPhone and iPad. I think if asked by Ian to write another Fighting Fantasy title Jonathan would jump at the chance.
All in all a great day was had and showed the Fighting Fantasy brand is still well loved and followed.

Reaping, 303A.C. Year of the Rabbit
Welcome Adventurers to the September 2011 Editorial update on the world's greatest Fighting Fantasy website.
The first instalment of the legendary 16m selling Fighting Fantasy series of gamebooks has at last made it to PlayStation minis on the 17th of August 2011 (SCEE) and the 23rd of August 2011 (SCEA), when Laughing Jackal released the PlayStation minis version of the controversial Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death. A brand new trailer showing the game in action can be seen here.
This PSN-exclusive version of Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death features a Tarot Card character generation system, and the classic dice-rolling rule set you know and love, with optional all-new Battle and Test Your Luck systems for bold adventurers to explore. The intuitive Inventory system and an all-new Log Book help you to easily track your progress through Orb's magical world, making this the perfect way to relive this classic series.
Following on from the success of Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death, Laughing Jackal are delighted to announce their next Fighting Fantasy conversion for PlayStation Minis will be Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain. First published in 1982 Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain was the first book in the Fighting Fantasy series, and introduced millions of readers to the world of Titan, which would be the setting for many of the Fighting Fantasy books to come.
Due to the feedback they’ve been receiving from fans of the series, Laughing Jackal have made several changes to the game since Fighting Fantasy: Talisman of Death including: The Log Book now remembers which book you were in (Character, Item or Page) The user can now return to the top of the page by pressing the up button when the first option is highlighted A ‘Good’ generic alignment portrait has been added to Character Bios A new mini game has been added to the end of the quest. But Laughing Jackal can’t reveal any more on that last point for fear of spoilers. However, what I can say is that the next title after this is hopefully going to be Forest of Doom.
This month we are delighted to present more great amateur adventures such as the excellent 71 paragraph adventure Orc Heart by Geraint Price and the 60 paragraph adventure Ticket to Blacksand by Tammy M. Badowski. We are also delighted to present new art by Daniel Silva to our Fighting Fantasy gallery, so checkout the first 6 pictures in the Gallery for the his brilliant new artwork. Keep it coming in!
Worldweaver, who bought Warlock of Firetop Mountain to your Kindle screens have announced plans for 2012 to release, City of Thieves, Creature of Havoc and House of Hell. More too follow on this when it is becomes available.
Finally, it is with great pleasure to announce that the original internal art for Rebel Planet, Star Strider and Robot Commando (see right) by artist Gary Mayes, will become available for sale over the forthcoming months. Over 80 pieces will be for sale, in various sizes including the page fillers. Initially, pieces will be released on eBay, then through a new on-line shopping environment on this site. In the meantime if you wish to express an interest in obtaining a piece of Fighting Fantasy history, e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also expect to see soon a new entry for Gary in the Artist Biography section and an interview.
I have also added a new 'Competition' tab to the top menu so that I can launch a new one very soon.

For those enquiring about submissions all amateur adventure contributions remain the authors own intellectual property, and we will be more than happy to add them to the Official website to share with other fans. If you wish to contribute, voluntarily advise or correct entry continuity, missing alphabetical creatures, spelling, grammar or link errors if on the growing Beyond the Pit, Lexicon or the site itself please do so to mail at fightingfantasy.com. A big thank you to the Fighting Fantasy's community for their assistance.
Fighting Fantasy.com has been designed to build a library of information regarding the Fighting Fantasy genre in general and it is our hope that it will become a regular port of call where you can read posts, contact other Fighting Fantasy fans, read new amateur stories and Gamebook adventures and become part of it's growing community development. If you can recall the days of the brilliant Warlock magazine, we want this site to develop through your input as much as the Fighting Fantasy magazine also did during its 13 issue publication.
CONTRIBUTORS: In order for the site to develop long term what we need is your assistance. What we'd like from all our visitors at the site is contributions on any of the topics below. Please read our submissions area if you would like to contribute in any form. You will get full credit for all your work. We would like your help with the following:
ARTWORK: This site will be dedicated to posting any of your illustrated pictures or scanned images associated with the Fighting Fantasy legacy. If anyone can provide the site with any drawings, scanned illustrations or book covers, Maps, etc, The Gallery will be a special place for them.
ADVENTURES: Are you considering developing a game book? Have you the skills necessary to write or devise a Fighting Fantasy, or Advanced Fighting Fantasy adventure? Have created one and would like to see it posted here for others to read? Do you want to see a particular Fighting Fantasy adventure in the future that sadly was never devised? If you can answer YES to any of the above questions then contact us for more information.
Reviews: If you would like to post your Reviews or comments about any particular Fighting Fantasy game books, the Advanced Fighting Fantasy game, Fighting Fantasy novels or handbooks, then send them to us! All contributions should be a good length (describing the story, what you liked or disliked about the book as well as any general comments and comparisons that you have with other books). If you would like to also provide a personal rating out of 10 in comparison to other Fighting Fantasy books I can then post a rating system in the future. I know most people believe they're all good, but some of them are a lot better than others, and the lower ratings will reflect that.
Solutions: Solutions to game books could provide a way to help other readers who have found a particular adventure tough. For most people, this is easy to accomplish - but for others it is less so. If you would like to provide detailed information on how to finish an adventure, solve the puzzles, crack the codes then send your Solutions to us. They need not be extensive or exhaustive (it's up to you whether you want offer a bare minimum of help to a complete walk through or a lot more), but bare in mind not to give to much of the plot or story away otherwise there is no point in playing the book for the other readers. Last and most important, don't give away the ending. It is always easy to read the ending anyway but bare in mind some readers won't have.
Advanced Fighting Fantasy: If you have created characters, places or events during your Fighting Fantasy adventures, or have even started a campaign we would be delighted to hear from you. If you have devised your own campaign world and setting for Advanced Fighting Fantasy and would like to see it on the web again let us know about it.
MULTI-PLAYER: The creation of an adventure is a tough process and requires a lot of time and patience. Not only have you got to consider the plot, setting, size and timescale in which to play it, but also the players, the events that will happen and characters they'll encounter. For this reason, many people miss out on the brilliance of fantasy role-playing (particularly if they can't find any other experienced players). We are especially looking for individuals who are skilled in this area. If you are currently playing another more popular role-playing game and have devised your own adventures, post us a general outline and plot. Provide details of events, encounters, creatures and characters met along with any Maps and epilogue.
We want this website to inspire you to take quill to scroll and become a haven for your ideas and suggestions that you can like to share with other fans. We are especially looking for Fighting Fantasy contributions concerning new rule articles, new monsters, new Sorcery! spell ideas, and anything else you would like to see upon the site. We want to know how you think we could improve existing adventures or the rules, so feel free to write up an article and send it in. Articles are a great way to share adventure ideas with other players.
