Hello there Adventurers. Greetings! Welcome to the mighty Great Wizard's biography area for many of the contributory artists and authors of the Fighting Fantasy™ Gamebook's. These pages will profile the current author and artists.

Steve Jackson

Steve Jackson is a veteran of the games world. Together with Ian Livingstone, the pair founded Games Workshop and created the Fighting Fantasy Gamebook series. He is also co-founder of Lionhead Studios ('Black & White') with legendary PC game designer Peter Molyneux. In the 1990s he was a columnist for the Daily Telegraph and his weekly Games Page included game Reviews, features on the history of games, news and puzzles. Apart from Fighting Fantasy, his game designs include 'The Warlock of Firetop Mountain' boardgame, 'Battlecards' (a collectible cardgame series which pre-dated Magic), the Gathering and 'F.I.S.T.', the first ever interactive telephone game.

Ian Livingstone

Ian Livingstone has been in the interactive games industry for over 25 years. In the 1970s, he co-founded Games Workshop and launched Dungeons & Dragons in Europe, later editing White Dwarf magazine. In 1982, with Steve Jackson, he wrote the first of the Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks which eventually sold over 15 million copies in 23 languages. In 1995 he led the merger of computer games company Domark with Eidos, the name behind the Tomb Raider computer games, where he is now Creative Director. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Technology by the University of Abertay Dundee in 2000, and in 2002 received the BAFTA Special Award for his outstanding contribution to the interactive entertainment industry.

Jonathan Green

John Green

Jonathan Green is a freelance writer well known for his contributions to the Fighting Fantasy range of adventure Gamebooks, as well as his novels set within Games Workshop’s worlds of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, which include the Black Templars duology Crusade for Armageddon and Conquest of Armageddon. He has written for such diverse properties as Sonic the Hedgehog, Doctor Who, Star Wars The Clone Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is also the creator of the popular steampunk Pax Britannia line, published by Abaddon Books, and has an ever-increasing number of non-fiction books to his name. Jamie Thompson

Jamie Thomson is an experienced craftsman of puzzles and games. He is also a games consultant, designer and author of interactive fiction. Thomson, who has worked in the games industry for over 20 years, Together with Mark Smith he created several Gamebooks series during the mid 1980's and early 1990's including four series: Duelmaster, Falcon, Way of the Tiger and the Fabled Lands with Dave Morris.

Jamie was Assistant Editor of White Dwarf magazine, and a contributor to popular Fighting Fantasy magazine Warlock before starting the company Black Cactus, and creating the game Warrior Kings. He has recently co-wrote How Big is your Brain, with Ian Livingstone. A fiendish maze of interactive puzzles, riddles, enigmas and brainteasers, that allows you to keep score as you go, whilst giving your brain the workout it deserves.

Mark Smith

Mark Smith is the co-author, with Jamie Thompson of several Gamebooks series during the mid 1980's and early 1990's including four series: Duelmaster, Falcon, Way of the Tiger. He spent some time racing with Formula 1 before gaining an MA in Experimental Psychology from Oxford University. He now works in the field of software testing.
